Farm Museum Program Supervisor

The Farm Program Supervisor is responsible for designing, planning, and leading history and agriculture programs at Fischer Farm. This position reports to the Farm Manager and supervises part-time staff, seasonal staff and volunteers.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all farm visitors.
• Research the regions agricultural history with the goal of identifying program needs/opportunities.
• Design and write program curriculum materials for all program areas including daily visitation, school field trips, scout groups, brochure programs, birthday party packages and summer camp.
• Research and create outreach programs for off sight programming
• Promote programs through marketing outreach efforts
• Train staff and volunteers on interpretive goals.
• Maintain records and evaluation reports on all programs.
• Assist with animal care and develop knowledge of livestock use/care to incorporate into farm programs.
• Stay current on museum field and living history trends and best practices.
• Manage farm collection items for display in the farmhouse and barn areas.
• Maintain program supply inventory. Order supplies as needed
• Act as manager on duty as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

• A bachelors degree in Museum Studies, Historical Administration, Agriculture, History or related field.
• Five years of interpretive experience including two years of program design and supervisory experience.
• Willingness to learn beekeeping and comfortable with the realities of apiary work including possible stings and heavy lifting.
• Ability to spend entire day on feet assisting with farm work and lifting 30lbs repeatedly
• The best candidates with have experience in historical interpretation and 4H club familiarity.

JOB STATUS Full time DEPARTMENT Fischer FSLA STATUS Exempt

SALARY $55,000.00-$58,000.00 Salary/year

HOURS 40 hours per week including evenings and weekends, working at least one weekend day per week. Typically, this position works a Tuesday-Saturday Schedule.
