The Institute of Soil and Soul is a regenerative farm and education center dedicated to addressing food insecurity in Chicago by growing and donating fresh produce to local food pantries. As a 501(c)(3) charity and a Jewish education center, we aim to deepen connections to the planet and promote Jewish values through sustainable farming practices. Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Field Trip Coordinator and Outdoor Educator to join our team. This role will be pivotal in enhancing our educational programs by creating meaningful experiences that integrate farming, gardening, and food justice with Jewish wisdom. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about fostering personal growth, environmental responsibility, and community building.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of educational curriculum for field trips and outdoor programs.
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all visitors to the farm.
- Supervise and coordinate field trips, volunteer days, and community events.
- Assist with farm-related tasks, including planting, harvesting, washing, and packaging produce as needed.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operations and positive experiences for all participants.
- Engage participants with humor and creativity while promoting Jewish values and practices related to farming and community.
Qualifications:
- Experience in education, outdoor programming, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for regenerative agriculture and food justice.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
- Willingness to perform physical tasks related to farm operations.
- Familiarity with Jewish traditions and values is a plus, but not required.
