ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Principal Gifts team, part of the Philanthropy department, stewards our Board of Trustees and principal donor families, supports and facilitates the President and Director’s donor work, coordinates the Board Chair’s donor communication, and manages campaign fundraising initiatives.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a part of the Principal Gifts team, the Assistant Director advances the museum’s relationship with its board of trustees and top donor families with a focus on campaign achievement through communication, reports, projects, and coordination. The Assistant Director represents the museum to external constituents including trustees and principal donors. The Assistant Director is aware of the best practices in the profession and determines which may have a positive impact at the Art Institute.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL
1. Assist in facilitating the planning, execution, and stewardship of the museum’s campaign, including solicitations, tracking, reports, and bespoke events.
2. Organize all naming recognition opportunities within the museum, including temporary naming for exhibitions and permanent naming for positions, programs, and physical spaces. Manage and maintain all naming recognition inventory including availability, pricing, images, etc.
3. Ensure the accuracy and execution of naming recognition as outlined in gift agreements.
4. Lead in the creation of new naming recognition opportunities, including new physical spaces, working closely with Philanthropy, Capital Programs, and Finance.
5. Manage all campaign tracking, including endowment and new capital fundraising, with a focus on driving seven to eight-figure gifts on the donor pipeline. Partner with the Senior Business Analyst for Philanthropy on creation of future reports for both internal and external audiences.
6. Serve as lead liaison between Philanthropy officers and Stewardship on all major gift proposals.
7. Serve as lead liaison between Philanthropy officers and Office of General Counsel on pledge agreements.
8. Perform other duties as assigned
