Performs a variety of projects and assignments in supporting museum initiatives, including exhibitions, public programs, collections care, research and special events (tasks may vary). The intern reports directly to the Executive Director. This is an opportunity for a candidate to focus an internship in a specialized or varied general museum environment to meet school internship requirements. Other duties include but are not limited to the following:
Assists at the Elmhurst History Museum, Education Center, and the Churchville One-Room Schoolhouse with programs, exhibitions, and care of historic collections as needed.
Assists Museum staff with planning and implementing programs, exhibitions and other initiatives.
Assists with collections management and reference services.
Establishes and maintains responsive community relations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Comfortable with public speaking.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in a relevant field (e.g., education, history, theater, education, etc.). Candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license.
This is a seasonal position. The selected candidates are expected to work approximately 25 hours per week with occasional special event assistance, if needed. Hours are flexible depending on intern needs and museum program schedule.
