Work Summary:

The Archivist & Collections Manager is responsible for the management, access to, and professional care of the Trust’s archives including its documents and design collections and organization history records as well as organization of physical storage and database inventory. The Archivist & Collections Manager implements and upholds archival policies and procedures, documents and accessions new acquisitions, and supports reading room management.

Duties:

  • Responsible for archival management and access.
  • Processes, digitizes, and preserves archives and collections.
  • Organizes and describes archives and collections in accordance with accepted museum/archives standards and practices.
  • Ensures accurate and up-to-date inventories and archive/collections database.
  • Responds to archives information inquiries and requests. Processes occasional loans and acquisitions.
  • Responsible for providing scans of historic photographs and documents as needed.
  • Responsible for researching and responding to copyright and ownership issues.
  • Provides public service by facilitating archives appointment requests. Coordinates and facilitates archives use in public programs.
  • Assists with maintaining Trust website information on the archives.
  • Works with others on grant submissions and reporting that support archives and collections.
  • Manages reading room book inventory and attends related meetings.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

B.A., B.S. and/or M.A. or M.L.I.S. in Archives, Library Science, Museum Studies, or related field with formal training in archives management and preservation or commensurate experience. Three years of Archives experience, preferably in a museum setting. Experience in archival digitation technologies and archives management software. Knowledge of archives preservation requirements, storage needs, and registration procedures for archives. Some knowledge of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work preferred. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Computer acuity and ability.
