Part Time Program and Education Assistant

Glen Ellyn Historical Society was established in 1969 to preserve and facilitate tours of Stacy’s Tavern Museum, the only stagecoach tavern in Illinois on its original foundation. Our staff and volunteers provide guided tours of Stacy’s Tavern Museum as well as resource assistance to professionals and individuals who wish to utilize the Society’s extensive reference, pictorial and artifact collection. We offer regular programs on the history of Glen Ellyn and the surrounding communities throughout the year. We also operate Stacy’s Corners Store, a unique gift shop featuring Glen Ellyn items and seasonal gifts. The Society has a large membership and volunteer base and employs an Executive Director, Assistant Director and two part-time staff.

Position Summary:

• The Program and Education Assistant will schedule and facilitate guided experiences of Stacy’s Tavern Museum. This position will assist with educational programming, special events, and rentals. This position will also conduct research on Glen Ellyn history.

Report to:

• Executive Director, Glen Ellyn Historical Society

Compensation:

• $18-$20 Hourly
• Part-time position (21 hours/week on average; may be higher as needed)

Benefits:

• Vacation – 1 week annually.
• Paid holidays (if New Year’s Day, July 4, Thanksgiving or Christmas falls on a weekday that is normally scheduled/worked)

Qualifications:

• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Previous work experience in a museum, school, or similar organization
• Interest in local history
• Experience with social networking
• Available to work Thursdays and Saturdays
• Availability to work some evenings and night events
