New Lenox Public Library is looking for a creative, enthusiastic, and technology-minded person to help “cultivate the vibe” with our Studio team. How You'll Contribute: The Studio Specialist is responsible for:
Supporting the successful day-to-day operation of The Studio including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, refilling craft supplies, and more
Providing assistance in The Studio's Workshop and Digital Media Lab areas
Maintaining an atmosphere conducive to connecting, creating and exploring
Providing tours of The Studio as requested
Providing training on technology available in The Studio, including individual instruction, group classes, and events for technology such as 3D printers, laser cutters, cutting machines, sewing machines, and more
Monitoring and helping maintain The Studio equipment, software, and supplies, and reporting any issues to the Studio Manager
Assisting in the ongoing development and improvement of The Studio
Creating and assisting in the creation of Studio decorations and crafts
Assist with programs offered in The Studio
Assisting library patrons of all ages online and in person by finding materials, answering questions, providing technical help and facilitating the use of The Studio
Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements include:
High school diploma or LTA Certificate
Experience working in a public library, makerspace, or digital media lab preferred
Experience with Google apps including Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and more
Strong experience with at least one of the following: maker technology, digital creative processes, or personal media archiving, with the ability to learn the following:
Experience with or ability to learn maker technologies and equipment and other no, low, or high technologies
Experience with or ability to learn digital media creation and editing tools
Experience with or ability to learn basic digitization and conversion processes
Ability to teach complicated topics to different skill levels
Ability to patiently and respectfully instruct and guide users of all skill levels, backgrounds, and ages
Learns new technology and adapt to emerging technology quickly
Troubleshoots computers and other equipment and isolate problems
Knowledge of related online resources offered, such as Creativebug, Craftsy, and Linkedin Learning
Passion to work with the public in a positive manner
Working Conditions Work is performed in a typical library environment. Must have a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance or have the ability to arrange own transportation between library and other locations as needed.
What we offer:
Salary range: $19.91 - $24.89 per hour (midpoint); internal equity is used in determining the rate of pay

This part-time position is scheduled for 20 hours per week including days, nights, and rotating weekends and will report to the Studio Manager.
