Events Bartender

The Joliet Area Historical Museum is seeking a reliable and personable Part-Time Events Bartender to join our team. This position is ideal for someone looking for flexible evening work that can complement a full-time job or other daytime commitments.

Position Overview

Our museum hosts a variety of private rentals, community gatherings, corporate events, special programs, and concerts throughout the year. The Events Bartender plays a key role in creating a welcoming, professional, and enjoyable experience for our guests and members.

This role offers set event dates scheduled in advance, allowing you to plan accordingly. Weekly hours will vary depending on the event calendar.

Schedule

• Primarily evenings and occasional weekends
• Event dates provided ahead of time
• Hours per week vary based on scheduled events

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with Illinois liquor laws
• Provide friendly and professional customer service
• Set up and break down bar areas before and after events
• Monitor guest alcohol consumption and ensure responsible service
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar area
• Accurately handle cash and card transactions

Qualifications

• Prior bartending experience preferred (Minimum 1 Year)
• BASSET certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional appearance and demeanor. You must wear applicable museum uniform shirt and name badge.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and stand for extended periods
